Vitaliy Vlasyuk, who is a contender for the post of head of the National Anticorruption Bureau of Ukraine, earned a large sum by mining several years ago. According to the local media, Vlasyuk himself told about it during his conversation with the commission members.

We used different equipment. The average price per device was $1,000 in 2017, but we managed to sell them later at $4,000. We also earned from the growth of bitcoin, which rose in price from $1000 to $9000.

Vitaly Vlasyuk also told about the electricity costs in 2020, which amounted to 25 thousand hryvnias. According to him, the devices not only mined cryptocurrency but were also used for heating.

Even though the commission was ready to consider the activity legal if there was a rental agreement, Vlasyuk demanded to involve the relevant agencies to investigate.

The candidate for the head of the NABU reported that he earned on the mining of cryptocurrencies 3 million hryvnias and paid tax in the amount of 5%. Based on the data of the declaration, Vitaly Vlasyuk owns 10.18 BTC, which according to his estimate is 1 million hryvnias in equivalent. However, according to the exchange rate at the end of 2021, the amount according to market estimates was 13 million hryvnias. A list of transactions from the BTC wallet was not provided.
