Miners will be left without electricity in Iran

The reason for such a decision of authorities is the serious load on the power grid. As a result the Ministry of energy announced a prohibition of using the state electric power for mining companies. There are 118 companies in the list.

According to recent measurements the level of consumption reached 62.5 thousands MWt becoming the cause for concern of getting over 63 thousands MWt.

Industrial mining was approved in Iran 3 years ago giving a chance for miners to use the cheap resources and for power plants to increase their profit. More than 1 000 licenses were given in January 2020. There are a lot of illegal miners who use household electricity, increasing the load on the power grid while it is impossible to use the hydroelectric power plants during drought. The situation became so complicated that the authorities banned mining from May till October and there were noticed some electricity switches off in the cities.
