Kaspa (KAS) Challenges Ethereum Classic (ETC) as Top Choice for HiveOS Miners

Recent statistics from Hive OS, a popular Linux-based mining operating system, reveal an intriguing development in the world of cryptocurrency mining. Kaspa (KAS) has now tied with Ethereum Classic (ETC), each capturing 19% of the coins being mined by HiveOS users. Ravencoin (RVN) follows in third place with 9%, while NEXA and ERGO (ERG) secure 7% and 5%, respectively.

KAS has been steadily closing the gap with ETC since the beginning of the year, and is now less than half a percent behind. Although HiveOS is not the only mining operating system available, it is one of the largest in terms of users, making these statistics a valuable source of insight.

A closer look at the algorithms used by these cryptocurrencies shows Kaspa (KAS) and its kHeavyHash mining algorithm at 21%, with Etchash used by Ethereum Classic (ETC) at 20%. The difference in percentage is due to some coins sharing the same mining algorithm. Additional details reveal Nicehash-kHeavyHash at around 1.5% and Nicehash-EtcHash at 0.66%.

Among newer coins gaining traction, NEXA is already ranking high with 7.29%, while Dynex (DNX) and Radiant (RXD) show promise at 1.43% and 0.8%, respectively. This indicates that miners are exploring alternative coins and algorithms, potentially shaping the future of the cryptocurrency market.
