Draft law on licensing of miners adopted by the Senate of Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan continues to consider a document that regulates the introduction of licenses for cryptocurrency mining activities. At the moment it has received approval from the Senate.

Adoption of this document means the compulsory obtaining of a license for miners, as well as persons who own the equipment or rent cells in data centers.

In addition, several innovations will be involved:

• protecting the country’s energy system from illegal mining;
• administration of taxation processes;
• regulation of the circulation of digital assets;
• prohibition of crypto exchanges and advertising of the relevant activities in the country (except for IFC “Astana”).

Now, after the approval of the Senate, the bill has been sent to the head of Kazakhstan for signature. Recall that the regulation of cryptocurrency mining, considered for several months, and the adoption of the final version of the document is given great attention at the highest level.
