Wattum Management Unveils 8 MW Bitcoin Mining Facility in Kentucky

Wattum Management Inc. has announced the expansion of its hosting services with the launch of an 8 MW Bitcoin mining facility in Kentucky, USA. Established in 2017, the company provides Bitcoin mining equipment and hosting solutions to clients worldwide.

With the addition of the Kentucky facility, Wattum now has a total hosting capacity of 78 MW across locations in New York, Texas, South Carolina, and Canada. The new site, occupying 100,000 sq ft of space, is expected to grow to 24 MW by December 2023.

The company has recently shifted its focus to offering hosting and management services exclusively in North America, targeting large-scale clientele. The Kentucky facility will provide clients with a range of services, including 24/7 on-site and remote support, security, diagnostics and repairs, and remote DVR access for live viewing.

This expansion follows the collapse of Kazakhstan’s crypto mining hub in 2022 due to the local government’s crackdown on mining operations. Wattum is now actively transferring all its assets previously hosted abroad to the US for a more reliable and secure mining and hosting experience.

Kentucky has been an attractive location for crypto mining operations, thanks to its favorable policies. In 2021, Governor Andy Beshear passed two laws to incentivize miners. Senate Bill 255 offers clean energy-based incentives for those who make a minimum capital investment of $1 million, while House Bill 230 provides tax breaks. As a result, Kentucky accounted for 10.9% of the US hashrate share in 2022.

Wattum will continue to cater to its smaller-scale B2C clientele by launching a new online store for customers interested in purchasing smaller quantities, with more details to be revealed soon.
