As a result of the abuse of the preferential tariff, the amount of debt amounted to 28.6 million rubles, which must be paid to “Irkutskenergosbyt”.

Cryptocurrency mining had been going on for almost a year, and the debtor ignored the requirement to switch to a commercial tariff. Moreover, the level of consumption reached 75% of the total value of the entire village, which has 10.5 thousand houses.

There were three attempts on the part of the miner to contest the debt in court, but it did not bring any results. As a result, it was ruled that the utility company’s qualification of the defendant as an “other consumer” was legitimate.

Recall that previously there were proposals from the authorities of the Irkutsk region to allocate special sites with surplus energy for cryptocurrency mining as part of the process of combating illegal mining.
