The organizers of the bogus mining hosting service in Irkutsk were charged with fraud

The attackers were able to steal over 2 million Russian rubles. The victims paid for the placement of cryptocurrency mining equipment in the mining hotel, but the devices were eventually sold.

The press service of the Irkutsk region’s Main Department of Internal Affairs shared the investigation results. Two swindlers rented an office and hired three employees, who were to sign contracts and accept the equipment. After the customers gave up the expensive devices, the miners were sold. Thus, a profit of over 2 million was made and spent on the personal needs of the criminals.

Now the indictment was sent to court to be sentenced under Parts 3 and 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code (fraud).

It should be noted that this is not the first such case in the region, as the Irkutsk region is attractive for miners due to low electricity tariffs. In the summer, the attackers stole equipment worth over 100 million rubles by taking the devices from the mining hotel and stopping payments to customers.
