Performance Testing of Whatsminer M60S Shows Remarkable Efficiency

Today, MicroBT announced their latest Bitcoin mining rig, the Whatsminer M60S, at the high-profile Blockchain Life 2023 conference. The M60S comes as the company’s inaugural venture into the 1X J/Th era, taking power efficiency to a whole new level. Lead Data Center Engineer Michael VanSickle of Foundry, who ran an extensive evaluation of the machine, revealed impressive performance metrics, according to oundry-digital.

The M60S follows the same form factor as its predecessors, the M50S and M30S. During Foundry‘s testing, the machine showed consistent results. Rated at 186/Th, the machine actually performed at 189/Th. Furthermore, it maintained an average power draw of 3485W. As a result, the miner’s average efficiency sits at an impressive 18.5 J/Th.

But the miner didn’t stop at mere averages. When tested in High-Performance mode, the rig ramped up its hashrate to 199/Th. At this level, the power draw was 3735W, making its efficiency rate 18.8 J/Th. Remarkably, these metrics remained stable even as ambient temperatures fluctuated between 60F and 80F.

So what does this mean for prospective buyers? Simply put, the Whatsminer M60S is a high-performance unit that offers both power and efficiency. Given the demanding needs of Bitcoin mining, machines that excel in these areas are a must-have.
