Mining in residential buildings in Russia may be banned

To prevent fires, the State Council of Russia sent a proposal for a complete ban on home mining to the Russian government.

Recall that over the past few months, the State Duma has been considering a law to regulate the activities of miners. Due to objections from several bodies, the adoption of the bill has been repeatedly postponed. In addition, there was the issue of taxation of cryptocurrency mining. According to Anatoly Aksakov, taxes for miners will not differ from those paid by representatives of other types of business.

The Ministry of Energy also stands for the fact that mining has a legislative regulation.

The mining of cryptocurrencies should be regulated by relevant acts. As for the residential buildings, the miners provoke higher loads on the network, which leads to massive outages.

The initiative was commented on by Anton Tkachev, a member of the State Duma Council on Information Policy. He noted that separate regulations will be developed to implement the regulation.

We believe that the prohibition of cryptocurrency mining not only in residential areas but also in regions where there is a shortage of electricity is quite logical. Today, the issue of energy security, as well as the repair of power systems that have not withstood the increased load, is quite acute.

In the six months of 2022, there were 23 fires in garages and residences with cryptocurrency mining devices in Irkutsk – the popular region among miners.
