Bitcoin mining difficulty rises 1.72% to record high
According to BTC.com, the difficulty of mining Bitcoin has reached a new historical high. The indicator increased by 1.72% and currently stands at 48.71 T.
Miners are actively increasing their computational power. The average hashrate over the period since the last recalculation was 348.6 EH/s.
The rise in mining difficulty, combined with the fall in the value of the first cryptocurrency, may lead to a reduction in cryptocurrency mining revenues.
The Hashrate Index shows a decrease in hash price over the last day, from $81 to $76 per PH per day.
The increase in mining difficulty occurs due to an increase in the number of miners and their computational power. This means that more computational power and, therefore, more energy is required to mine one block.
Considering that most miners use electricity to power their devices, the increase in mining difficulty can lead to an increase in energy consumption and, consequently, an increase in the load on the energy infrastructure.
