Trump Campaign to Host Presidential Roundtable on Bitcoin Mining

David Bailey, CEO of Bitcoin Magazine and cryptocurrency aide for the Trump campaign, has announced that former President Donald Trump will participate in a Presidential Roundtable on domestic Bitcoin mining. This event, part of Trump’s new cryptocurrency-friendly policy, will include prominent U.S. Bitcoin miners. However, Bailey did not disclose the specific attendees, according to

Bailey described the event as “history in the making,” emphasizing that it will feature key figures from the mining industry meeting with Trump, who he referred to as the “next president of the United States.” Despite the lack of details on the participating companies or miners, Bailey assured that well-known industry actors would be involved, expressing confidence that they would make a strong first impression.

Trump’s shift towards a pro-crypto stance was first signaled during a non-fungible token (NFT) gala in May, where he announced his campaign’s acceptance of cryptocurrency donations. He criticized President Joe Biden’s understanding of cryptocurrency and vowed to create a supportive environment for crypto in the U.S., contrasting with the current administration’s policies. Trump even suggested the potential of using Bitcoin to address the $35 trillion U.S. national debt.

Bailey highlighted the significance of the mining industry’s role in this initiative, praising their efforts to engage with political leaders and influence policy. This roundtable signifies a growing recognition of cryptocurrency’s importance in the political arena and the economy.
