Kazakhstan’s share of the BTC network’s total hashrate has dropped significantly

According to Daniel Batten, a representative of ClimateTech, Kazakhstan currently occupies 6.4%, whereas previously the figure was at 11.6%. Moreover, a year ago the share was as high as 18%.

As a result, pollution levels have also dropped by 10%. Batten believes these parameters reflect the right direction for the network. He also added that more than half of the miners, namely 52.2%, support zero emissions.

In the past year, the use of “green” sources has increased by 2.9%. However, 47.8% are still using fossil resources.

As for Kazakhstan, the availability of inexpensive energy sources and suitable climatic conditions attracted many miners, allowing the country at one time to take second place in the global share. However, later on, resource prices began to rise, and the authorities introduced a special tax rate for cryptocurrency mining. The process of increased regulation continues, and miners are forced to look for other locations.
