High Hash Rate Leads Solo Miner to $195K Bitcoin Block Reward

In a rare event on April 28th, a solo bitcoin miner successfully added a block to the blockchain, earning a reward of 0.125 BTC, valued at approximately $195,256. This solo miner, operating at a high hash rate of 120 petahash, verified block 841286. The occurrence was confirmed by Kon Kolivas, the administrator of the Solo CKpool mining pool, according to Happycoin.

Solo mining achievements are exceedingly uncommon in the bitcoin network; only 282 out of 841,292 blocks have been added by individual miners, a mere 0.034% probability. Typically, large commercial entities and mining pools dominate block verification. This event marks a significant contrast to April 5th, when a solo miner earned $422,750 for a block, before the reward halving on April 20th reduced the payout to the current 0.125 BTC per block. The next halving is expected in 2028.
