US Trade Measures Spur Homegrown Mining Hardware
According to Cointelegraph, Donald Trump’s “America First” policy has inadvertently impacted the crypto mining sector by imposing higher tariffs on Chinese chips. As a result, the average cost of imported ASICs has surged 7–9%. Customs delays and stricter regulations have prompted companies to seek domestic suppliers. Experts estimate that local production of mining hardware has grown by 15% in the past eight months.
At least 42% of US-based BTC farm operators are contemplating switching to American-made models to reduce risks associated with supply disruptions. In 2024, about 5,000 miners were mistakenly held up at ports, causing over $3 mln in damages. Now, manufacturers are pursuing local contracts valued at up to $20 mln.
Researchers note that large-scale plants in Texas and Florida may accelerate the shift toward in-house ASIC production. These developments promise both an economic boost and insulation against global supply chain instability.
