Ural Region Farm With 200 GPUs Causes 14 Million Ruble Damage

In Russia’s Sverdlovsk region, police apprehended several suspects who ran an illegal crypto mining operation by bypassing electric meters. New Day News reports that around 200 graphics cards were installed, causing a 14 million ruble loss.

The group rented multiple workshops to house their equipment. Law enforcement seized the hardware and launched an investigation into its origin. Authorities state that the suspects currently show no intent to compensate energy providers for the damage.

Officials point out that such electricity theft not only costs suppliers financially but also risks overloading the grid. As a result, additional measures are being taken to locate and shut down similar unregistered farms.
