Ukrainian Fraudsters Lured Investors with Fake “Cloud” Mining Worth $13 mln

In one of this year’s biggest scams, a group of Ukrainian crooks swindled immense sums from foreign contributors. They promoted a so-called “cloud” mining scheme, enticing victims to invest a combined $13 mln in hopes of high returns. Investigators say the organizers built a web platform that mimicked real mining operations.

The main victims included citizens from the US, Latvia, Israel, Spain, and more. Supposedly, the computing power was located in Ukraine, but no real equipment existed. Authorities believe part of the money was laundered through “money mules,” while another portion was converted into cryptocurrency, making recovery nearly impossible.

Currently, multiple cases are open, and suspects face international pursuit. Experts remind investors that any promises of instant profits should raise immediate suspicion.
