TeraWulf Expands Operations with Third Building at Lake Mariner, Aiming for a 7.9 EH/s Hash Rate

TeraWulf, the U.S.-based company specializing in clean Bitcoin mining, is in the midst of significant expansion. Just a few months after completing its second mining building at the Lake Mariner facility in New York, the company has already set its sights on a third. Located on the shores of Lake Ontario, this facility uniquely repurposes a retired coal plant to generate Bitcoin using more than 91% zero-carbon energy, according to TeraWulf.
Because of this innovative approach, TeraWulf positions itself as a leader in sustainable crypto mining. The company leverages hydro and other renewable energy resources abundant in the Lake Ontario area. Consequently, this minimizes its carbon footprint dramatically.
As of August 31, 2023, TeraWulf boasts an impressive fleet of approximately 50,000 latest-generation miners. Specifically, 34,000 of these miners operate at the Lake Mariner facility, while another 16,000 are at the nuclear-powered Nautilus facility in Pennsylvania. In turn, this extensive operational setup supports the company’s ambitious goal: achieving a total hash rate capacity of 7.9 EH/s.
The rapid expansion serves a dual purpose. Firstly, it elevates TeraWulf’s standing in the competitive landscape of Bitcoin mining. Secondly, it does so while emphasizing a commitment to environmental responsibility, a growing concern in the crypto industry.
