MARA Acquires 240 MW Texas Wind Farm, Strengthening Vertical Integration Strategy

MARA has officially completed the purchase of a wind farm in Hansford County, Texas, featuring 240 megawatts of interconnection capacity and 114 MW of installed power. The deal enables the company to power older ASIC units, which might otherwise be sold or decommissioned, with renewable energy sources.

According to MARA representatives, this acquisition bolsters the firm’s vertical integration strategy by adding a generation asset to its portfolio. The upgrade is expected to decrease overall mining costs and push operational expenditures closer to a minimal threshold. Wind power itself remains one of the most promising “green” energy options for running crypto mining rigs.

With this setup, MARA can potentially extend the operational lifespan of their hardware while staying more competitive in the digital asset mining market. Analysts highlight that this move reflects the broader industry shift toward renewables, where reducing total costs and meeting environmental mandates is increasingly a top priority.
