White House Aims to Pass Stablecoin Bill by August 2025

According to The Block, the Trump administration wants a stablecoin bill approved before Congress leaves for its summer recess. The plan focuses on USD-backed tokens to reinforce the dollar’s status as a global reserve currency. During the first crypto summit, the President heralded a “new era” of digital payments, emphasizing stablecoins as a core element.

Government advisers stress the importance of clear legal frameworks for issuers, aiming to prevent fraudulent collateralization. Investors would gain transparency from mandatory reserve disclosures and public audits. This approach is intended to provide competitive advantages to American firms in the international digital asset market.

Critics worry about conflicts with the Federal Reserve, as widespread stablecoin adoption could reshape monetary flows. Nevertheless, White House officials argue the proposed legislation could be a powerful growth catalyst, especially if it takes effect at the start of 2026.
