Anton Tkachyov Urges Russian Finance Ministry to Employ Bitcoin in Foreign Trade

According to globalmsk.ru, State Duma deputy Anton Tkachyov addressed the finance minister, stressing that cryptocurrency is virtually the only viable method of conducting transactions amid sanctions and restrictions. He argues Bitcoin could compensate for broken payment channels by enabling export-import deals without being blocked by hostile jurisdictions.

Statistics show Russia’s foreign trade volume declined by 6.2% last year. Experts estimate that careful Bitcoin integration could reduce losses by 15–20%. In particular, the proposal involves creating pilot zones where exporters and importers could test such a scheme with support from the Ministry of Finance and other agencies.

Nonetheless, significant risks remain. Economist Nikita Maslennikov warns that Bitcoin’s volatility and uncertain legal status might complicate its inclusion in national reserves. The taxation and regulatory framework also remains unclear. Still, Tkachyov’s call indicates the topic is moving toward open discussion.
