Dagestan Opens Hotline to Combat Underground Farms
Dagestani authorities have launched a dedicated hotline to tackle illegal crypto mining. According to the interim head of Dagenergo, residents can now report farms that siphon electricity covertly. Anti-corruption measures targeting local energy officials are also part of the plan.
Since late 2024, the republic has imposed a mining ban, yet more than 30 violations have been uncovered. Damages from stolen power run into hundreds of millions of rubles, with the Ministry of Energy warning of grid destabilization.
Local specialists note that some entrepreneurs set up rigs in garages and garden lots. Officials hope community cooperation with law enforcement will sharply reduce clandestine connections.
