Parbhoe Reshapes Suriname: Bitcoin Legalization and Central Bank Abolition
Maya Parbhoe, a presidential candidate in Suriname, has unveiled sweeping reform plans including Bitcoin legalization and dismantling the central bank. Incrypted reports that Parbhoe sees BTC as a solution to the country’s “corruption and inefficiency” issues. She argues that blockchain technology can provide transparency in government agencies and reduce hidden cash flows.
Her agenda involves partially allocating government spending in BTC, ending fiat money issuance, and prohibiting any foreign currency monopoly. Supporters claim these measures will protect Suriname from inflationary risks, though critics warn that such drastic steps may destabilize the financial landscape.
The parliament will decide the fate of this bold proposal following the May elections. Should Maya Parbhoe prevail, Suriname would become the world’s first nation to fully replace traditional central banking functions with cryptocurrency reliance.
