Sophgo Under Sanctions: Miner Shipments No Longer Blocked

Sophgo, a Chinese semiconductor company, faced US restrictions late in Biden’s term for allegedly acting as a middleman between TSMC and Huawei. Its chips led certain mining rigs to be flagged and delayed at customs. Recent updates suggest that measures against devices containing Sophgo components have eased, freeing multiple shipments.

Industry representatives confirm that some rigs indeed rely on parts from this firm, causing conflicts with US regulators. Sellers endured major financial setbacks due to months-long waits before reclaiming their products. Now that bans have been lifted, normal delivery schedules are expected to resume.

A number of experts believe that the Sophgo case could serve as a model for more precise chip-testing policies. This would prevent widespread hold-ups and excessive pressure on the mining market.
