Samsung Scales Up 4nm Output for Crypto-Oriented Chips

According to Digitimes, Samsung plans to ramp up its 4nm foundry capacity, partly focusing on orders catering to mining ASICs. Industry insiders note that crypto-related demand for advanced semiconductors drove the company to expand. Currently, Samsung’s Pyeongtaek facility has been underutilized.

Additional production lines are slated for a June launch, benefiting clients like Baidu or HBM partners, and certain Chinese ASIC assemblers. Nevertheless, experts caution that heightened US sanctions on Chinese chipmakers could complicate deliveries and impact future partnerships.
