HIVE Deploys S21+ Hydro and Avalon Nano 3S for 25 EH/s Boost
Alongside its acquisition of Bitfarms’ Paraguay site, HIVE Digital announced plans to equip its farms with both Antminer S21+ Hydro units and Avalon Nano 3S models. Through this upgrade, HIVE aims to scale from 5.46 EH/s to 25 EH/s by late 2025. The S21+ Hydro features 20% enhanced performance due to liquid cooling, while Avalon Nano 3S promises stable output with lower power usage.
A two-phase rollout is slated, with most construction finalizing by August. Project costs, at $400k per MW for infrastructure upgrades, are being covered by multiple major backers. HIVE reps say using chips from Bitmain and Canaan diversifies supply risk and extends machine lifespans.
Analysts estimate each phase will add roughly 6–6.5 EH/s, putting HIVE closer to the top echelon of global mining operations. The company also leans on Paraguay’s renewable energy to secure low costs and an eco-friendly profile. Leadership remains confident this approach will yield consistent revenue while meeting investors’ sustainable development criteria.
