Riot Platforms Seeks Full 125 MW Control at Rockdale
Following an agreement with Rhodium, Riot Platforms aims to gain an extra 125 MW of capacity at Rockdale. Amid Rhodium’s bankruptcy proceedings, the $185 mln deal would grant Riot ownership of all equipment and effectively remove competitors from the site.
Riot’s statement indicates total power consumption could approach 400 MW, potentially boosting the firm’s hashrate by 25–30%. Analysts note that bankruptcy court approval is the biggest hurdle, though both parties have signed a preliminary settlement plan.
If all conditions are met, Riot could rival top-tier miners, edging closer to the top three US operators by production volume.
