Argo Blockchain’s CEO to step down in February after one year in office
Argo Blockchain has announced that CEO Thomas Chippas will exit his role on February 28, 2025, following roughly 14 months at the helm. According to the official release, CFO Jim MacCallum will serve as interim CEO until the board selects a permanent successor.
Under Chippas’s leadership, Argo emphasized balance sheet strengthening and repaid a Galaxy Digital loan well ahead of schedule. However, challenges remain, particularly around securing fresh hosting options for 2.3 EH/s of mining capacity. The previous hosting partner terminated its contract in December 2024, forcing Argo to explore new colocation avenues.
An estimated 85% of the firm’s hashrate requires relocation to maintain profitability, leaving shareholders uncertain. The company’s stock fluctuated on news of this leadership change, underscoring the market’s focus on Argo’s future direction.
