Irkutsk Prosecutors Force Removal of 12-Container Farm from Agricultural Land

The Irkutsk Region Prosecutor’s Office has compelled the dismantling of a large mining farm situated on farmland. MK Irkutsk reveals the owner set up 12 mining containers and 12 transformers in violation of the area’s agricultural designation. The total power capacity reportedly reached 4900 kW.

Locals complained of noise and power disruptions, prompting municipal authorities to seek legal intervention. The court ruled in favor of the prosecution, declaring the facility incompatible with agricultural use. The owner must remove all equipment or face forced demolition by court bailiffs.

Experts note the region has become a “hot spot” for illegal mining due to inexpensive electricity and low tax rates. However, unregulated operations frequently lead to blackouts and disputes with nearby residents.
