RACIB Calls for Mining Task Forces in Every Russian Region
According to recent reports, the Russian Association of Cryptoeconomics, AI and Blockchain (RACIB) insists on establishing dedicated teams for cryptocurrency mining and regulation in all regions of the country. Association representatives claim this move would simplify dispute resolution, consider local specifics, and enhance market transparency. The proposal surfaces amid the nationwide ban on crypto mining effective from January 1, 2025, for several federal subjects, with partial restrictions in others.
Currently, industry experts estimate that approximately 45 legal mining operators remain active in Russia, and their number is shrinking fast. Simultaneously, regulatory inspections are intensifying: some areas have discovered numerous secret facilities, while others deploy drones to catch unauthorized operations. RACIB stresses that local task forces could greatly expedite information sharing. Authorities and power companies could react swiftly to illegal grid connections, which have often cost more than $2m in damages.
Initiative authors warn that without a unified strategy, illegal miners simply shift from one district to another. The prospective regional teams plan to evaluate energy consumption data and craft proposals for tariff regulation. They will also include investors and municipal representatives interested in setting up crypto data centers. Experts believe this step might generate positive economic outcomes and strengthen the power network’s stability across Russia.
