Bitdeer Injects $21.7M into Canadian Power Project for Bitcoin Mining
Bitdeer has announced a $21.7M investment into a 19-acre site near Fox Creek, Alberta (Canada). The plan includes constructing a natural gas power plant to supply 101 MW for a dedicated Bitcoin mining data center. Industry analysts note that the facility’s capacity could expand to as much as 1 GW if needed.
According to disclosed figures, Bitdeer’s aggregate hashrate exceeded 21.7 EH/s at the end of last year, and the company looks to push even further. Current projections suggest construction will finish by Q4 2026. Initiatives like these bolster Bitdeer’s presence in North America, aligning with the trend toward greener, more efficient solutions.
Alberta officials confirmed the region’s openness to additional mining firms, offering favorable policies and support for innovative natural gas usage projects. Plans also involve implementing carbon capture technology to lower emissions and minimize environmental concerns.
