Riot Earns $3.6 mln Through Power Credits and Demand Response in January
In January, Riot accrued a total of $3.6 mln by participating in various power cost compensation programs and load-reduction initiatives. Of that amount, $3.2 mln came from power credits, while $0.4 mln was attributed to the demand response program. These setups enable the company to offset some expenses during peak usage times or when it scales back mining operations.
Riot employs a flexible model: if energy market conditions become unfavorable, it may shut down part of its hardware in exchange for payouts from the grid operator. As a result, the firm maintains consistent profitability regardless of shifts in tariffs or Bitcoin prices.
Observers highlight that such a strategy not only saves money but also mitigates overload risks in regions with high electricity demand. Riot indicates that it plans to continue using this approach going forward.
