Energy Workers in Perm Region Expose Illegal Mining Farm Causing Over 2 Million Rubles Damage

In the Kungur district of the Perm Region, specialists from “Permenergo” discovered an illegal mining farm, causing damage to the power system exceeding 2 million rubles. The facility was disguised as a utility shed equipped with a ventilation system with five fans.

The attentiveness of the energy workers led to the detection of an unauthorized connection to the power grid, used for cryptocurrency mining. A criminal case under Article 165 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation has been initiated for causing property damage.

Such instances of illegal mining lead to overloading of electrical networks and pose a threat to the stability of power supply. Energy workers, in cooperation with law enforcement agencies, continue efforts to identify and suppress such violations.
