U.S. Develops First Commercial Small Modular Reactor (SMR), Marking a New Era in Energy
The United States has initiated the development and deployment of its first commercial small modular reactor (SMR), signaling the beginning of a new era in nuclear energy production. An SMR is a nuclear power source with a smaller infrastructure footprint compared to traditional reactors and is considered to be safer.
An SMR can produce up to 300 MW of power and can be manufactured in a factory before being shipped to the installation site. This technology offers flexibility in reactor placement, enabling deployment almost anywhere.
The introduction of SMRs could revolutionize operations for large organizations, including data centers and cryptocurrency mining facilities, by providing a cleaner and more efficient energy source.
