“Novie Lyudi” Suggest Increasing Exports via Cryptocurrency Sales: Focus on Mining

The “Novie Lyudi” party has announced that Russia’s export earnings could be boosted by actively developing mining and selling cryptocurrencies abroad. Their calculations suggest that with the current volume of generated electricity and existing infrastructure, profits could reach hundreds of billions of rubles annually. Party Chairman Aleksey Nechaev stressed that Bitcoin mining can be treated as a form of “electronic export,” making efficient use of surplus power capacity.

Party experts propose establishing a centralized regulatory framework so that part of the mined cryptocurrency integrates into the domestic economy, while another portion is directed to foreign markets. Nechaev also pointed out that one megawatt of energy utilized for mining generates a substantial budget inflow through taxes. “Novie Lyudi” call on the Central Bank to ease its stance on digital assets, citing the strong interest among 29% of adult Russians who reportedly use cryptocurrency.

Many analysts welcome the idea but note the risks of volatility and ongoing global sanctions. Nevertheless, supporters of the proposal believe Russia could capture a significant share of the global mining market and gain noticeable benefits for its balance of payments.
