Seven new sites: Marathon Digital reshapes the mining landscape
Marathon Digital has officially confirmed plans to open 7 new mining facilities. The company expects to boost its share of self-owned farms to 65%, up from under 40% at the start of 2024. Preliminary data reveals three of the seven sites will be in North America, two in Europe, and the remainder in Asia.
The total investment in building and launching these operations is estimated at around $250 mln. Marathon Digital representatives emphasize that this step will reduce reliance on third-party hosting services and trim operating costs by approximately 15–20%. Additionally, the creation of new jobs offers an economic boost to local communities.
According to company leadership, scaling up is a key element in its strategy to remain a top-tier industry player. All seven facilities combined could reach a total hash rate of 12 EH/s, bringing Marathon Digital closer to its overall power capacity goals.
