Mining’s Negative Impact on Energy Supply Discussed in Zaporizhzhia Region
A government commission in the Zaporizhzhia region discussed the problems of mining and its negative impact on the region’s energy supply. Illegal miners consume enormous amounts of electricity, creating a deficit for the population.
It was revealed that some mining farms consume enough energy to supply 420 homes. This leads to power outages and adversely affects the quality of life of local residents.
In response, regional authorities recommended accounting for all mining farms and establishing comprehensive energy resource management. There are plans to ban mining in some regions until 2031, to ensure uninterrupted and quality electricity supply to the population.
