Nano 3S at $249: Canaan’s Entry Miner Gets Power Boost

At CES 2025, Canaan showcased an upgraded version of its Nano 3. The new Nano 3S features 6 TH/s of hashing power and is marketed as an “entry-level option” for mining newcomers. With a price of just $249, it ranks among the most affordable rigs on the market.

Analysts report that, in 2024, small-scale miners under 10 TH/s rose to 8%, up from 5% the previous year. The Nano 3S draws 300 W, making it 12% more efficient than its predecessor. Its built-in Wi-Fi module eliminates the need for wired connections, streamlining setup.

Canaan aims to ship up to 40k Nano 3S units in the first half of 2025, potentially adding over 240 PH/s to the global BTC hashrate if widely deployed. Observers note the possibility of shortages, since demand for budget-friendly models typically outstrips supply by a factor of two or three upon release.
