Mining revenues hit $1.41 bln in December as BTC price reaches $108k

In the final month of 2024, bitcoin mining industry revenues surpassed $1.41 bln for the first time since April. The main catalyst was bitcoin’s price surge, which exceeded $108k in mid-December.

Market analysts observe that post-halving, many expected margins to shrink, but the price uptick offset the reduced block reward. December’s subsidies alone reportedly yielded over $1.37 bln, with the remainder coming from transaction fees.

The rising bitcoin price has boosted appeal for hardware upgrades. Mining firm representatives note that if this trend continues, new ASIC profitability may be 25–30% higher than a year ago, prompting further capacity expansion in the coming months.
