Digihost’s 2031 roadmap: a microreactor for mining

Digihost has provided more details on its long-term plan to integrate a microreactor, aimed at supplying its mining farms with a continuous energy source for the next decade. Company leadership estimates that the new setup will cut operating expenses by 40% and push energy efficiency to unprecedented levels.

The reactor is expected to generate over 45 megawatts, covering around 75% of the firm’s current power needs. Switching to “clean” power could help attract major investors who focus on eco-friendly ventures. Digihost has already signed a preliminary agreement with an engineering company specializing in small modular reactors.

According to the roadmap, all stages should be completed by 2031. The initial reactor launch is slated for 2028, followed by test operations. Meanwhile, the company anticipates a 65% increase in overall hashrate thanks to more reliable and lower-cost electricity. The ultimate goal is to join the top five “green” miners in the US.
