Russian Citizens May Mine Crypto Without Registration Up to 6,000 kWh

Russia has legalized crypto mining and introduced a 6,000 kWh monthly energy consumption cap for private individuals. According to official sources, citizens can mine digital assets without registering as sole proprietors or corporations, provided they stay below this threshold. Analysts note that this rule could affect around 85% of small-scale household miners.

Roughly 40,000 households nationwide already employ cryptocurrency mining equipment, based on data from industry associations. Reports indicate that the policy aims to safeguard everyday users from penalties while broadening participation in the market. However, those who exceed 6,000 kWh per month must formalize their activities and pay taxes.

Experts suggest that the new measure will boost transparency in the sector and increase government revenues from large mining facilities. Furthermore, a potential surge in registered participants may influence electricity pricing and drive demand for more efficient ASIC units.
