Marine Le Pen Proposes Strategic Crypto Reserves Inspired by U.S. Model

French political figure Marine Le Pen has floated the idea of forming “strategic reserves” in cryptocurrencies, referencing a blueprint in which a government could hold over one million digital tokens. She maintains that this arrangement would finance EDF upgrades and diminish reliance on external loans. Earlier, she discussed tapping excess nuclear energy for bitcoin mining initiatives.

Under this plan, the national power provider would leverage surplus megawatts for crypto generation and simultaneously retain coins, treating them like a treasury stockpile. Proponents say the approach fits a broader move toward alternative forms of state reserves. However, skeptics highlight the inherent volatility linked to massive digital asset exposure.

In light of ongoing worldwide debates on crypto legislation, Le Pen’s proposal may provoke substantive policy scrutiny. Experts note that while several nations have considered holding bitcoin as part of their reserves, no system for large-scale government-owned crypto accumulation has been fully institutionalized.
