“Kilovattiono” in Russia: A Comedy on Rural Crypto Mining

In April 2025, the STS channel will premiere “Kilovattiono,” a comedy series starring Andrey Rozhkov. The storyline involves characters who launch a mining farm in a remote village to repay a 3 mln ruble bank debt caused by scammers. Writers aim to depict life in rural areas grappling with cryptocurrency mining and the lure of cheap electricity.

Filming took place near Krasnodar, with a custom-built barn, pigsty, and other farm structures. According to the creators, one of the show’s goals is to educate viewers on how mining can evolve in rural settings and what happens when high technology meets local communities. Expect conflict over electric bills and sudden financial windfalls.

The series spans 17 episodes, with the production team emphasizing an ironic take on ever-shifting realities. Early feedback suggests a lighthearted tone that still addresses important issues like safety and the economic risks of mining.
