Russian Miners Flee to Kazakhstan and Belarus
Following partial mining bans in Russia, many operators relocated equipment to Kazakhstan and Belarus. Experts credit these nations’ lower electricity rates and more lenient regulations. Several firms have established colocation or data-center rental frameworks.
According to SPB Blockchain, at least 20% of major farms formerly operating in Siberia and the Urals have shifted abroad. The geographic proximity reduces logistics costs, though questions remain about local infrastructure reliability and regulatory stability.
Observers anticipate further outflows if Russian authorities tighten oversight. For now, Belarus and Kazakhstan appear unlikely to impose harsh measures, hoping to attract external investment.
