Three Crypto Mining Farms Seized in Sukhumi
In the city of Sukhumi, authorities seized 3 mining farms with a total capacity exceeding 149 kWh. The equipment, worth over $220k, was hidden in buildings disguised as industrial facilities. Officials note a 40% increase in such incidents in the past 2 months.
Law enforcement reports that around 18% of all confiscated devices belonged to individuals, while the rest were linked to groups engaged in illicit operations. More than 30 ASIC units were immersed in special coolant baths to reduce noise and heat. This case highlights the criminals’ sophisticated tactics.
Following the seizure, the government plans to assess damage to the power grid and initiate criminal proceedings. They intend to tighten controls on importing mining hardware. The aim is to reduce illegal energy consumption and stabilize electricity supply for ordinary citizens.
