“KrasEko” official took a bribe for allowing illegal mining farm
In the Boguchansky District of Krasnoyarsk Krai, an investigation concluded regarding unauthorized mining activities allegedly protected by a local utility employee. The former head of commercial metering at “KrasEko” reportedly accepted 580 thousand rubles to ignore a clandestine mining farm. This operation ran at multiple locations and effectively stole electricity, causing significant losses for the company.
According to the Investigative Committee, “KrasEko” suffered damages of 9.4 million rubles, and the suspects face multiple criminal charges ranging from bribery to property damage. Mining equipment valued at 10 million rubles was seized. Following the final court decision, the defendants could face fines or imprisonment, and the confiscated machines may be forfeited to the state.
This incident highlights regional schemes where power utility staff allegedly turn a blind eye to illegal mining in exchange for payments. Law enforcement officials vow stricter measures to prevent similar abuse and urge citizens to report any unauthorized connections.
