$100M for Decentralization: Proposed U.S. Bill Backs Mining Development

A new congressional bill aims to allocate $100 mln in subsidies and grants to support decentralized mining ventures in the U.S. According to various sources, a coalition of senators introduced the measure, viewing Bitcoin mining as a tool to bolster the nation’s “digital sovereignty.” Part of the budget would fund research into optimizing energy efficiency and reducing carbon footprints.

Proponents clarify not all miners will qualify: ecological certifications, at least 30% “clean” power use, and collaboration with local grid operators are mandatory. If approved, funding might begin next fiscal year.

Opponents question whether subsidizing large corporations is justified, fearing market overheat or inflated equipment prices. Supporters counter that such action prevents the sector from shifting operations overseas.
