Investors with Over $1.1 mln in Assets to Be Granted Crypto Access

The Bank of Russia’s pilot program stipulates that only individuals whose combined securities and deposit portfolios surpass $1.1 mln may engage in cryptocurrency trading. Such a qualification is intended to shield inexperienced parties from potential market hazards. Organizers highlight that by concentrating on well-capitalized participants, regulatory bodies can more precisely measure how digital currencies affect the financial ecosystem.

Authorities plan to gather performance metrics on these investors throughout a three-year assessment. Analysts point out that limiting eligibility to high-net-worth individuals will yield more transparent data, thereby refining risk evaluations. Still, the elevated entry point raises questions about how inclusive the initiative will be.

Should the evaluation prove positive, lawmakers may revise criteria to allow broader public access. Nonetheless, the central bank emphasizes that any policy updates will prioritize financial stability and the protection of citizens unready for high-level exposure to crypto market turbulence.
