Canaan has released new details about the noise level of its Avalon Q ASIC miner: operational sound is reportedly just 45 dB, comparable to a quiet library. This breakthrough could be a game-changer for residential environments where loud mining rigs have long posed a challenge.

The prototype underwent a series of lab and real-world tests. Engineers say the result stems from a redesigned cooling system and an optimized chassis. Several beta testers note that even at 90 TH/s, the miner’s temperature averages around 55 degrees Celsius, without exceeding that figure under extended workloads.
