MicroBT Launches M70 Series With 12.5 J/TH Efficiency
MicroBT has expanded its WhatsMiner family with the new M70 series. The company focused heavily on energy efficiency, and the new lineup starts at 12.5 J/TH, making it one of the most competitive releases this year.

Key specs and the current ASIC market slowdown
The M70 series includes three efficiency tiers: 12.5 J/TH, 13.5 J/TH, and 14.5 J/TH.
MicroBT is offering both air-cooled and liquid-cooled versions. The entry-level M70 delivers about 214 TH/s, while the rack-mounted M79S exceeds 1 PH/s, targeting industrial-scale operators.
However, the launch arrives at a difficult moment. Bitcoin’s hashprice has dropped to $35 per PH/s/day, near historical lows. The network hashrate remains above 1 ZH/s, and these conditions compress miner margins and slow hardware demand.
As a result, ASIC manufacturers face higher inventories and longer purchase cycles. Mining companies are more cautious, and many review long-term infrastructure decisions.
Main drivers of the weak hardware market:
- falling hashprice;
- rising operational costs;
- extended ASIC payback periods;
- a shift toward selective capital spending.
MicroBT focuses on efficiency and ecosystem expansion
During the presentation in Abu Dhabi, MicroBT highlighted sustainability. The company showed solar-ready systems and hybrid power models. According to founder Yang Zuoxing, the sector must prioritize energy efficiency instead of relying on bullish market cycles.
MicroBT also emphasized broader ecosystem partnerships. HashSmith was introduced as a new joint-mining collaborator. This aligns with a wider trend: Bitmain and Canaan increasingly operate their own mining capacity. Canaan, for example, recently launched the A16 series with 12.8 J/TH efficiency.
The new M70 lineup therefore marks a strategic shift toward long-term infrastructure and operational improvements.
