Deputy Gorelkin Urges Rapid Legalization for “Gray” Mining Equipment: Amnesty Window May Be Brief
Anton Gorelkin, Deputy Chair of the State Duma’s Information Policy Committee, has endorsed the Federal Customs Service proposal to legitimize previously imported mining hardware. He advocates granting equipment owners a narrowly defined period, possibly as short as one day, for voluntary registration and penalty avoidance.
The lawmaker stresses that a strict deadline could push businesses to comply swiftly, warning that failure to enroll devices in the Federal Tax Service registry may bring severe consequences. Analysts question whether so little time will suffice to account for all unregistered gear, given the vast scale of Russia’s mining scene.
Gorelkin suggests that a final resolution may be reached by year’s end, at which point enforcement measures would tighten significantly. Ultimately, officials aim to promote transparency in the mining market and boost tax revenues.
